JCI Mandarin Chapter
The idea fo establishing a Mandarin-speaking Chapter was rooted years ago. It was only in the early 1980 that the City Chapter Board of Directors assigned the then Vice President Ee Kok Wah the task of initiating the ground work. With the support of the National President, JCI Sen. Chow Kwok Wah, Past National President JCI Sen. Patt Man Wah and City JC David Tay Hang Chiang the first Pre-Membership Orientation Programme was organised in April 1980 at the Holiday Inn Hotel.
The response was fairly good and 15 non-Jaycees attended this PMO. Sufficient publicity was accorded by the Chinese Press.
During the 1980 JCI Singapore Conference, a tea reception was held in May at the Hilton hotel to welcome and get to know the Taiwan delegates. Another PMO was held in early 1980 in Jaycees Secretariat at Midland House where 25 non-Jaycees attended. Thereafter a Pre-Induction Training(PIT) Course was organised to orientate the baby Jaycees who have joined the organisation. A pro-team committee under the chairmanship of JC Ee Kok Wah was formed to organised the inauguration and establishment of the Mandarin Chapter.
