DPM Teo encourages new Citizens to be Active Citizens

DPM Teo said that new Singapore citizens have new responsibilities to the community and country, and must do their part to bring progress and prosperity to the nation and advance the well-being of fellow Singaporeans.

He described "active citizenship at work" as the community and government cooperation in providing schemes to help families and children in need. He highlighted the volunteers efforts that helped in the Pasir Ris-Punggol Community.

New citizens were encouraged to participate actively in activities and programs organized at Community Clubs, as well as volunteer in the community, contributing as active citizens.

From his transcript:

In building a harmonious and vibrant community, active citizenship must become an integral part of our lives.

Active citizenship means realising that every citizen has a stake in this country and in making our home Singapore the best home.

- DPM Teo, 27th May at the Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC & Punggol East SMC Citizenship Ceremony
